Högskolan Väst’s prioritized research areas are Work-Integrated Learning (LINA), Child and Youth Science (BUV), and Production Technology (PTV). Within these areas, larger conferences are organized, making the university a meeting place for many stakeholders.
The university’s profile is work-integrated learning (AIL) in education and research, with the government’s mandate to develop models for AIL. Active collaboration with the outside world is therefore a natural part of Högskolan Väst. Through AIL, students at the university gain experience in working life during their education. The university offers courses, educational programs, additional programs, and doctoral education broadly within data and IT, economics and leadership, health and care, teacher and language, media, human and society, and technology.
Technology and social sciences are among our major research areas. A smaller number of projects are conducted in the humanities and health and medical sciences. The research is largely focused on producing results that can be practically useful and much of it is conducted in collaboration with the surrounding society. Research also aims to strengthen the scientific foundation of the university’s education.
The campus, with 12,000 students and approximately 570 employees, is centrally located in Trollhättan and is built based on the needs of students. The open spaces create meeting places between students, teachers, and the workforce.
